We brought the 'Youth Bus' to area to not only provide local teenagers with something to do during half term but to also find out their views, ideas and opinions on how they think our neighbourhood could be improved over the next 10 years.
The first stop for the bus was Upton Road where 24 young people were waiting for us! They had great fun using the facilities on the bus, which included DJ equipment, Wii & Xbox games consoles, art equipment and board games. They were able to give their views on what they like about the area, what they would change and how they think that £1million could make a difference. It's no surprise that they are concerned about the same things as the rest of the community.
After 2.5 hours the bus moved onto Radford Avenue where 4 young people braved the torrential rain to come down. Again they enjoyed the equipment and gave their views about the area.
A big thanks to KDYT for coming along to let young people from our area know the amazing events and activities that are available to them at Kidderminster Youth house in Bromsgrove Street.
To celebtrate the launch of the Big Local DY10 Photographic Competition we organised 2 free workshops. They were held at St. George's Church Annexe. Toni & Corina (both talented photographers/artists) were on hand to help people get used to using cameras and share some hints and tips on talking great pictures.
During the workshops the group got out and about in the Big Local area to take photos. People were able to discover 'new' aspects of the neighbourhood whilst looking for interesting photo opportunities! The photos below also show theat they had some fun!
